China Machinery and Equipment Engineering Group signs the first waste to energy generation project in Bangladesh


China Machinery Equipment Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Design Group") signed an investment agreement with relevant parties in Bangladesh on the 1st to develop Bangladesh's first garbage based power generation project.

It is reported that the North Dhaka City garbage power generation project developed by China Design Group under the investment construction operation model can process up to 3000 tons of domestic waste per day after completion, which can meet the electricity demand of about 1.1 million people and is expected to become the largest garbage incineration power generation project in South Asia.

Taz Islam, Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives in Bangladesh, stated at the signing ceremony that China Design Group has a lot of successful experience in related fields and looks forward to the project being completed on schedule.

Nasrul Hamid, Minister of State for Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources of Bangladesh, stated that the implementation of the project will significantly reduce the amount of local waste and contribute to local environmental sanitation.

Li Jiming, the Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh, said in his speech that the "the Belt and Road" initiative promotes environmental friendliness and sustainable development. China and Bangladesh continue to expand practical cooperation in various fields, encourage green investment, and promote low-carbon sustainable development in Bangladesh. This project is a vivid portrayal and practical measure of fulfilling the commitment of the two countries to green and low-carbon energy transformation.

Fang Yanshui, General Manager of China Design Group, stated that since entering the Bangladesh market in the 1990s, China Design Group has undertaken a series of projects that benefit local people's livelihoods. The enterprise will actively leverage its professional capabilities and overseas localization resource advantages, and actively promote project development in the direction of green, low-carbon, and sustainable.
